The wagon had been taken on a high speed trial to Cunderdin. 30/8/05 NR 28 hauls the Indian Pacific east of Seabrook. 23/10/05 3107 / L 260 approach Southern Cross with 1426 freight from Kalgoorlie. 11/12/05 4012 / 2205 / Q 309 / 3105 catch the last sunrays of the day as they lead 1025 freight through Middle Swan. 16/10/05

A 1504 rolls into Bindi Bindi with a train load of empty four wheel wagons. F 46 passes through Hazelmere with wagons which had recently received attention at the Midland Workshops. X 1028 makes a smoky exit from City station, leading an afternoon passenger train to Armadale. R 1901 departs Kwinana on a goods train. G 233 and G 123 are stabled at Bunbury loco depot between vintage train duties. Busselton station. The building has now been relocated across the Vasse River, while the yard is occupied by a car park. X 1030 shunts at Busselton, prior to a departure for Nannup. X 1025 works a suburban passenger train through Rivervale. XB 1006 awaits scrapping at the Midland Workshops. Former Midland Railway diesel shunter E 30 sits at the Midland Workshops, prior to its relocation to the Rail Transport museum, Bassendean. X 1002 is stabled at the Forrestfield loco depot, awaiting its next task. Ambulance coach AQA 343 sits in the dock platform at the old Midland station platform. DB 1583 hauls an N class unit and goods train through Mosman Park. Y 1103 has just completed shunting at the Thomas flour mill in Cottesloe, and is returning to Leighton Yard. X 1014 works the Australind through Welshpool. The distant signal on the right was on the freight line from Kewdale. There were once a number of private sidings at Welshpool. F 42 is shunting at the Wesfeeds complex. T 1802 shunts the once substantial yard at Narrogin. A 1511, now 1202, departs Narrogin for Avon Yard. XA 1413 / 1408 await departure from Mundijong with a load of XF wagons for loading at Boyup Brook. This unusual working was my first sighting of 2 X type units working together. X 1028, A 1505 and AB 1531 are all stabled at Avon Yard. AB 1534 shunts ballast wagons at Toodyay West in preparation for work on the Miling branch. D 1561 leads a goods train towards Ashfield. The loading ramp at Spearwood. X 1001 waits at the head of a suburban passenger train at City station. J 103 shunts wagons at the Montreal-rd entrance of the Midland Workshops. Under very threatening skies, the Prospector approaches Midland. F 42 is pictured at Midland with historic brakevan Z9. RA 1915 at Leighton with a rake of XN wagons. M 1851 shunts fuel tankers at Forrestfield. Y 1115 shunts in the yard at Bunbury. Note the truck trailers on flat wagons in the background. An unidentified N class locomotive runs through Platform 7 at City Station with a goods train. A 1514 shunts the Australind at the carriage sheds in Perth. A 1509 glides downhill over the Kenwick flyover with a suburban passenger train. J 105 heads a loading of vans through Welshpool, destined for the Swan Brewery siding at Canning Vale. Margaret River was still an active station in 1982, although only served by Westrail road transport. The railway, which went through to Flinders Bay, closed in 1957. B 1601 works at the shunting school sidings at Bassendean, while an ADK / ADB set passes. Y 1116 shunts two suburban coaches into the Midland Workshops following their withdrawal from service. P 2516 arrives back at Dowerin after running a special light engine service to Goomalling. The Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, Alannah MacTiernan, was a passenger on the unit.
